All it takes is a start...

I always wanted to write a blog, I just never focused on spending the time to write it. Now that I'm trying to better my life, I believe that it will become easier if I focus on putting my words down to be able to remember my thoughts, feelings, and ideas later on down the road.

I chose my caption 'Our Life is a Timeless Race' because I believe as we live our lives here on earth we are in a race from conception to death. As children we can't wait to become older and more responsible and as adults we yearn for those carefree days we experienced as children.

I compare our life experiences to a race because when you take part in a race, you experience many different feelings and thoughts. I recall walking the Alzheimer's Associations Naperville Memory Walk in 2008 not even 3 weeks after having foot surgery on both feet. My boyfriend's family walked ahead of me and left me behind - but I persevered and finished the 3.1 mile course on my own. It made me think about what it would be like when you have Alzheimer's and think that you are on your own even though somewhere around you your family is there. You get lost in your own memories or forget the most important ones and the ones you do remember you keep repeating over and over.

I struggle with things that have happened in my life and so I look forward to the rest of my journey on this earth - the one I call my lifetime race.
